Basket Brigade fundraiser: please help provide a food hamper to those in need at Christmas

It’s that time of year again. If you’ve found my blog helpful over the past 12 months please consider donating to families in need at Christmas.

I’ve raised money via my blog in each of the last three years for foodbanks in the North East. Thanks to your generosity we’ve raised more than £3,500.

The Trussell Trust, a nationwide network of foodbanks, distributed 1.6m food bank parcels between April 2018 and March 2019, up 20% on the previous year.

If you add independent foodbanks to the Trussell figures you can double the number to more than three million emergency food parcels.

This year, along with colleagues at Metia, I’m raising money for the Basket Brigade. Basket Brigade raises funds to distribute food to those in need at Christmas.

Last year it distributed more than four million baskets in locations around the world. I’m support the team in London.

Recipients are nominated by individuals and charities. £15 will feed a family of four. £5 will feed someone living on their own.

They will receive a beautiful basket of food and love to enjoy on Christmas day, something they may not have been able to do without this donation.

Recipients don’t know the food basket is coming. It is a big surprise and the fact that it is a gift from a stranger makes it even more powerful.

Metia has donated £500, and the team will be helping pack and deliver hampers at The Bushey Academy, Bushey on 23 December.
