Inaugural #CIPRChat set to discuss lobbying
The topic of member engagement was raised throughout the recent election for CIPR President for 2014. As the incoming President-Elect I’m delighted that it’s an area of my manifesto where I'm able to get cracking immediately.
The CIPR comms team has been hugely supportive of the idea of creating a regular Twitter chat and I’m delighted to report that the first #CIPRChat will take place this week.
The North East CIPR group has pioneered a successfully programme of #CIPRNE Twitter chats bringing together members and non-members. I hope #CIPRChat will serve a similar role.
The first #CIPRChat will take place on Wednesday, 17 July, for an hour from 4pm BST on Twitter when the topic will be lobbying.
We need to seek swift resolution on the issue of the registration of lobbyists and ensure that any new statutory rules are fair and applicable to all practitioners irrespective of role.
#CIPRChat could be timely as the UK government is expected to make a policy statement early this week before Parliament breaks for the summer.
We’ll be examining issues including transparency, parliamentary standards, regulation versus registration, professional standards in lobbying and the role of the CIPR.
We’ll be joined by members of the CIPR Public Affairs group including chairman Simon McVicker. I’m looking forward to the discussion.
