#EbookInADay update and a publication date
#EbookInADay was planned over a month and created in a day by PR students at Southampton Solent University. It was inspired by a project at Boston University. I challenged my network to develop the concept in a blog post.
As President of the CIPR for 2014, the professional membership organisation for public relations in the UK, I’m keen to foster closer relations between PR teaching and practice.
Catherine Sweet, a lecturer at Southampton Solent University in the south of England, UK, responded to my blog post and we created the #EbookInADay project.
45 PR students split into eight groups ran and reported on a series projects about different aspects of modern public relations practice.
The eight project areas included networking, crowdsourcing, co-creation, gamification, curation, visual mashup, face-to-face and measurement.
The project kickstarted a national and international conversation. Thank you to everyone that got involved. And thanks to Catherine Sweet and the team at Southampton Solent University for tackling the project with determination and infectious enthusiasm.
In the end it was less of an ebook and more of a movement.
#EbookInADay has been published in beta to friends and family and will be formally unveiled to the world by Solent Press on 23 April. In the meantime here's the story of the project told by some of the participants in words and picture.
