Share This hits Newcastle
Realwire's Adam Parker and I represented the authors of Share This for a session about the book for the CIPR North East Group at the Town Wall Pub, Newcastle last month. Share This is the social media handbook created by the CIPR Social Media Panel, published by Wiley in July.
Billed as a book for anyone that works in the PR industry and wants to continue working in the industry, Share This has shot to the top of Amazon's business bestseller charts and recently launched in the US.
We each talked about the content of our book followed by a lively group discussion. They’re a talkative bunch up in North East.
Adam spoke about how Twitter is modernising media relations and enabling practitioners to bring greater insight to campaign planning and use real time data to align their content and conversations with the news agenda.
Adam has spent the last five years developing tools to enable the PR industry work smarter. He demonstrated Lissted, a new tool from Realwire, that enables practitioners to find, listen and monitor journalists on Twitter. Its billed as a tool to modernise public relations.
Meanwhile I returned to a favourite topic and discussed the opportunity that digital media provides for companies to become publishers of their own content and build engaged audiences.
