Today’s 2011 Tyneside Stages Rally passes within earshot of us at home in Holystone.
The course starts and finishes at Otterburn and routes around the Ministry of Defence (MOD) live firing ranges although there is a ceasefire in place for the duration of the race.
Cattle and sheep roam freely on the ranges adding an additional danger to the course. Crews are expected to pay for any livestock killed.
The 90 mile route takes places over nine stages. We headed onto the ranges this morning and watched the second stage of the race. Head to Flickr for a full set of photos.
